An option to save books currently being read.

I have been working on different ways to implement this, I think I’m getting close.

I have a way to import a Goodreads shelf, but I’m not sure how implementation on the user-side of things would go. Do you think I should try to include support for multiple different lists, or stick to a single currently reading list for each user?

Update: You can do this now! Look for ‘Add to my list’ in the box where you find book information. Or, venture on to http://www.readinglength.com/mylist/.

Wow! awesome! Thank you so much.

The ability to add additinal lists would be beneficial, I think. I would use extra lists to separate what I am reading (or want to read) by genre or page length.

Glad you appreciate it, please let me know if you run into any problems or have any suggestions on how to display the list.

I was hesitant in implementing it because I do want multiple lists, but I don’t know quite enough about web development to get there. I set the database up to allow for multiple lists, so I can work on it next time I run into a block of free time and feel like learning web development.

Something I’ll be working on is more ways to manipulate the data, e.g. custom wpm input, how long you need to read each day to finish the list before a certain date, etc.

Reading progression would be awesome to add to that as well 😀

I’ve got a decent amount of free time at the moment. If you need any kind of help, let me know. I belong to quite a few writing communities and can help spread the word, or possibly write some copy for you. I am also in the early stages of learning Javascript.

Reading progression such as where you can enter what page you’re on to track progress? I think that’s a great idea! I have to poke around Goodreads’ API a bit more, I know I can sync users’ shelves but I’m not sure about their progress tracking. I can see that an option of being able to sync between services would be beneficial.

Would you be willing to help spread the word a bit? My main focus has been Twitter, following people who might be interested and hoping they find utility in the site. I’d like to get a community of writers and readers here, perhaps give the writers more of a private space.

I also need to write guides on how to use various site features and figure out how I want to split up the forums. I’ll be creating a group, sort of an insiders’ club, where we can discuss changes and implementation of suggestions if you would like to join it.

Yeah, the current page out of the total page count.

    Sure! I’d be glad to.

This website is a great tool for any reader or and/or writer.
