Alexander Sergeyevich Griboyedov (Russian: Александр Сергеевич Грибоедов) was a Russian diplomat, playwright, poet, and composer. Born on January 15, 1795 in Moscow, he considered literature to be his life's main vocation. From childhood, Griboyedov was fortunate with his tutors - his governeurs were talented and renowned individuals. Even as a child, the future playwright spoke several foreign languages and could play the piano. In 1802, he enrolled at the Moscow University boarding school. The young man excelled in his studies, received awards, and at just 13 years old became a Candidate of Philological Sciences. During his student years, Griboyedov developed a passion for literature. It was during this time that he wrote his first literary works. His exceptional education and early achievements laid the foundation for his future accomplishments as one of Russia's most celebrated literary figures.
