Description
With the great depression of the 1930s, thousands of Finns left the Americas to build a socialist Soviet Union in Karelia. Irma Kupri and her family were among them. The Finns had to experience the terror of Stalin's time. Thousands of Finns disappeared; Irma herself had time to be married only a few months before her first husband was executed. Her family was evacuated to Siberia. Only in 1992 did she emigrate to Finland.
