"Los cantos de entretenimiento (porétecá maráma ‘canciones’) constituyen uno de los géneros versificados de la literatura oral tradicional de la etnia guatusa del norte de Costa Rica. Este género se divide a su vez en dos subgéneros: malécu porétecá maráma ‘canciones de nuestra gente’ (destinadas al esparcimiento, sea individual o en fiestas) y arapchá óra ajá maporétecá maráma ‘canciones para el bebé’ (canciones de cuna). Las ‘canciones de nuestra gente’ se subdividen a su vez en turrúculhá maírrecá maráma, literalmente ‘juegos sobre amantes’, y las canciones en las que se hace referencia a la cosecha de los frutos con que se elaboran los principales tipos de bebidas (cacao, plátano, maíz y yuca) orróquilhá maírrecá maráma, literalmente ‘juegos sobre plantas’."--
