Description

Jamaica in the late 1800s. The bells toll as a woman dies in childbirth, giving her husband not the son he always longed for, but a daughter called Meg Hilton. Meg grows up into a messy and adventurous girl, forever running around the countryside of Jamaica instead of becoming a "proper" Englishwoman.
