Description

"Mr. Roberts" is story about a lieutenant and the crew aboard a cargo ship in the back waters of the Pacific, and his and the crews on going tribulations with the captain, Captain Morton, a bully. One of the better books to come from WWII. The book is based somewhat on Mr. Heggen's experiences during the war. The story became an overnight success as a play on Broadway and as a result of the pressure of the success, Thomas Heggen committed suicide at the age of 29.
