Description

Miguel Rio Branco (Las Palmas, Brazil 1946) is a Brazilian artist - photographer, painter, filmmaker and creator of multimedia installations - who lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. In the 1970s he worked as a filmmaker in New York, directing feature and experimental short films. In 1972 he began exhibiting his photographs, and in 1980 became a Magnum photojournalist. He considers his photobooks -built through meticulous editing have gained status as works of art- an essential means of expression, being the author of "Sudor Amargo", "Nakta", "Livro Silencioso" and "Maldicidade", among others. His works are part of collections of important institutions around the world. The publication presents a visual narrative edited by the artist, with more than 200 images. In addition to Thyago Nogueira contribution, the book includes text by art critic Luisa Duarte.
