Description
This is a composite script dated October 12, 1942 with inserted revision sheets dated October 22, 26, 27, 30, 31, November 3, 6 7, 9, 12, and 13, 1942 (the film was in production between early January and early April 1943, with additional scenes shooting in early May 1943; the film had a U.s. release date of November 26, 1943). Lyrics to songs not included, although mentioned, including 3 Gershwin songs that didn't make the final cut of the film: I've got a crush on you, The lonesome cowboy won't be lonesome now, and Bronco busters. The screenplay is by Fred Finklehoffe, with contributions by Dorothy Kingsly, William Ludwig, and Sid Silvers, based on the 1930 musical play of the same name by Guy Bolton and Jack McGowan (this script is credited solely to William Ludwig). Produced by Arthur Freed and directed by Norman Taurog (I got rhythm directed by Busy Berkeley), the cast included Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Gil Stratton, Robert E. Strickland, Rags Ragland, June Allyson, Nancy Walker, Guy Kibbee, Frances Rafferty, Henry O'Neill, Howard Freeman, and Tommy Dorsey. This is MGM's vault copy, stamped Vault Copy, three times on front cover, alongside the stamps Composite script (also three times), Temporary complete, and Save Film!, Save your job!.
