De humor die in de werken besloten ligt moet voor tijdgenoten gemakkelijk herkenbaar zijn geweest. Nu - eeuwen later - zijn de beeldgrappen lastiger te ontrafelen. Deze publicatie biedt voor het eerst een overzicht van humor in de 17de-eeuwse schilderkunst.
