Description
In 1918, na de beëindiging van de Eerste Wereldoorlog, werd besloten om de noordelijke delen van het uiteenvallende Oostenrijk-Hongarije samen te voegen tot een nieuwe republiek: Tsjecho-Slowakije. Dit ?kunstmatig? samenvoegen van regio?s leverde een nieuw land op, waar verschillende bevolkingsgroepen ? die allemaal een andere taal spraken ? ineens landgenoten werden. Bij het creëren van en zoeken naar een eigen identiteit speelden de beeldende kunsten een belangrijke rol. 0Het Tsjecho-Slowaakse realisme dat in de jaren 20 en 30 tot ontwikkeling kwam heeft echter nauwelijks aandacht gehad. Ten onrechte, zo blijkt uit deze publicatie. Het boek neemt u mee langs een selectie van circa 70 kunstwerken van ongeveer 45 kunstenaars, mannen én vrouwen. De geselecteerde werken laten gelijkenissen zien met vergelijkbare realistische tendensen uit Duitsland, Frankrijk, Italië en Nederland, maar tonen tegelijkertijd een geheel eigen (nationale) beeldtaal. 00Exhibition: Museum MORE, Gorssel, The Netherlands (06.02.-08.05.2022).
