Description

This newspaper was published in 1918 by the Jewish journalist Albert Karasu of Thessaloniki, and in 1971, it ended publication. His wife Angèle Karasu also contributed to the newspaper with a number of different pseudonyms. Although Albert Karasu was a journalist who opposed the definition of his newspaper as a Jewish newspaper and did not bring his ethnic identity to the forefront, he appealed to a distinguished French-speaking segment of the newspaper. This segment was minorities and Levantines. This book examines the history of the newspaper, the life of the founder and his political attitude. On the other hand, since the beginning of the multiparty democracy period in 1950, when the newspaper ended its publication in 1971, in the period until August 1971, it took the news, articles and announcements in the newspaper as data and discussed the social and cultural lives of the minorities and Levantines. This research supported by archive resources; The press history is an original and new resource for minorities, Levantines and those interested in the social and cultural life of Istanbul.
