It's a desperate life

Description

"Frankie Flynn only asks to be left alone to back an occasional horse, and to enjoy a peaceful pint with his friends and neighbours. Peggy, his wife, has other ideas. She wants to get out of the city, aspiring to a life of dinner parties, kitchen diners and en suite bathrooms. As well as Peggy's threat to his lifestyle, Frankie has to contend with a malevolent dog, armed criminals, his malingering son-in-law, being barred from his favourite pub, and much more."
