Description

Webb acknowledges receipt of the Boston Ladies appeal. He says James Haughton came to see him and denies that his cousin, William H. Webb, is building a ship for the Confederates. Webb says that ten times as many small arms go to the North from England as go to the South and that the North's worst enemy is not England, but treachery within its own ranks. He says he is reprinting the book by John Elliott Cairnes. Webb recommends "The Daily News" and asks May for news of Edmund Quincy, Wendell Phillips, and Mattie Griffiths. Webb also sends a brief business account.
