Traces the problem to the 1970 s when many members of civil Rights/Black power Generation of the sixties morphed into the Me generation. Too many of these parents abandoned the highest standards of traditional African child-rearing practices and began imitating the permissiveness of European parents. In their headlong plunge into assimilation they forgot that our children have to be twice as good to get half as far.
