Description
Giovanni Battista Passeri hatte im 17. Jahrhundert tadelnd über Francesco Mochis im raschen Lauf gezeigte heilige Veronika in St. Peter in Rom geäußert, diese Figur sei kein andauerndes und unbewegliches Standbild mehr. Durch die zeitliche Struktur der Statue - den Eindruck des flüchtigen Laufens - hatte Mochi in den Augen Passeris die Grenze der Gattung überschritten. Dass sich die Bildhauer dennoch in derartige von der Theorie gesteckte Grenzbereiche vorwagten, diese vereinzelt sogar überschritten und welche Wege sie dabei beschritten, wird in der vorliegenden Publikation in den Blick genommen. Acht Kapitel thematisieren so unterschiedliche Phänomene wie "Anacronismo: zeitwidriges Erzählen und geraffte Zeit", "Die Metamorphose(n) als Gegenstand von Statue und Statuengruppe" oder "Der Statuensockel als Aktions- oder Ereignisraum".
