De interuniversitaire onderzoeksgroep PARTIREP, die patronen van politieke participatie en representatie bestudeert, stuurde tijdens de aanloop naar de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen van 14 oktober 2012 een vragenlijst naar alle voorzitters van alle lokale afdelingen in alle Belgische gemeenten. Daarin werd teruggekeken op het bestuur dat in 2006 gevormd werd, en gepeild naar de plannen voor oktober 2012. De neerslag daarvan staat in dit boek. Het brengt verslag uit van de wijze waarop de lokale politici op zoek gaan naar de kiezers.
