La ricerca fa emergere come il piccolo centro di Ninfa, che dopo l'anno 1382 è ormai diventato un cumulo di macerie, quasi del tutto spopolato, continua però a tramandare il proprio ricordo, mantenendo un posto ben saldo nelle carte del territorio. Memoria che rimane un punto fisso nella cartografia, con le "ruine" del castello, con i suoi edifici in disfacimento e le numerose chiese semidistrutte fino a quando, proprio queste caratteristiche, questi ruderi, la faranno riemergere dall'oblio e diventare luogo della fantasia, dell'immaginazione e del sentimento romantico. Mappe, incisioni calcografiche, dipinti e fotografie, provenienti da pubblicazioni e giornali d'epoca determinano, insieme a descrizioni di poeti e scrittori, il percorso narrativo della riscoperta dell'antico centro.
