Description
Lugnet. Under 60 år växte en kåkstad upp på den plats som idag är en del av Hammarby Sjöstad. I Lugnet frodades skuttar och skrotnissar, bilmekar och verkstäder i en udda mix av högklassigt hantverk, flitighet och skumrask. Lugnet blev en fristad och ett provisorium, byggt på gammal sjöbotten där ingen permanent bebyggelse var tillåten. Där hamnade verkstadsfirmor som tvingades flytta från innerstaden, där startades företag i liten skala. Hyrorna var låga och påhittigheten stor. Korrugerad plåt, lecablock och trä härskade i de Vilda västern-liknande kvarteren. Lugnets vildvuxna skönhet var en stilstudie i återbruk och fantasi som inspirerar även idag.
