Alexander Freiherr von Branca (1919?2011) zählt zu den bedeutendsten Architekten des 20. Jahrhunderts in Deutschland. Am 11. Januar 2019 hätte er seinen 100. Geburtstag feiern können. Bauten von Brancas sind in ganz Bayern, vor allem in München, aber auch in anderen europäischen Ländern zu finden. Dazu zählen insgesamt 29 Kirchen, vier davon im Bistum Eichstätt. Diese vier Kirchen stellt der vorliegende Band vor. Sie zeigen exemplarisch, welche Bedeutung dem persönlichen Glauben von Brancas für die Konzeption und den Bau seiner Kirchen zukam. So sind diese Gotteshäuser nicht nur ansprechende Orte erfahrbarer Transzendenz, des Gebetes und der Liturgie, sondern auch ein gebautes Glaubenszeugnis einer beeindruckenden Architektenpersönlichkeit.
