Description
The 200,00 acre Carrizo Plain Natural Area, established in 1988, is the largest remaining example of San Joaquin Valley Ecosystems. The Carrizo Plain Natural Area is cooperatively managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, the California Department of Fish and Game, and the Nature Conservancy for the benefit of rare and endangered plants and animals and imperiled natural communities. The variety of habitats within the Carrizo Plain Natural Area also provide for a diverse assemblage of birds. This checklist includes 183 species of birds documented in the Carrizo Plain Hydrographic Basin through 1993.
