Samuel May Jr. (Writer) explains to Samuel J. May (Recipient) that he took the position he did at the Executive Committee meeting of the American Antislavery Association (reported in his previous letter to Recipient) because he was under the impression that Recipient felt the organization?s agents were interfering with local matters. Writer discusses various topics, including William Lloyd Garrison?s new book, R.W. Emerson?s lectures in Boston, Writer?s family?s new living arrangement, and the current state of the temperance question. Finally, he talks about the death of their mutual friend, Sally Flint.
