Description
This PhD Thesis (written in German) presents (1) the history of today's capital of Bali with emphasis on the colonial period and (2) analyses the adaptation of the traditional, village based Balinese adat ('social-religious') system to an urban context, but also to the unifying process pushed by the Indonesian central state under the Soeharto regime in the seventies and eighties (termed 'indonesianisasi').
