Description
Nikolassee ist als Villenkolonie am grünen Tisch entstanden. Eine Terraingesellschaft hat ab 1901 eine unberührte Waldlandschaft an neu entstandenen Bahnstrecken entwickelt und aufwendige Wohnhäuser für zahlungskräftige Berliner per Katalog angeboten. Besonders einflussreich für die Gestaltung der Bauten war Hermann Muthesius, der das in den Garten eingebettete englische Landhaus in Deutschland propagierte. Später haben auch andere bekannte Architekten wie Peter Behrens, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe oder Bruno Paul hier gebaut.
