"Der Deutsche Pavillon in den Giardini der Biennale von Venedig ist der bekannteste Ausstellungsort deutscher Kunst im Ausland. Seit 1895 findet die Biennale statt und von Beginn an waren deutsche Künstler auf ihr prominent vertreten. Mit dem Bau eines eigenen Pavillons bekam die deutsche Kunst einen festen Ausstellungsort, an dem einige ihrer spektakulärsten Beiträge einem internationalen Publikum vorgeführt werden... Im Sommer 2012 diskutierten internationale Forscher die Geschichte des Deutschen Pavillons, der seit 1909, zunächst als Bayerischer Pavillon, in den Giardini existiert. Der Band fasst die aktuellen Ergebnisse zusammen und bietet einen Ausblick auf weitere Forschungsbereiche zur Biennale von Venedig."
