Description
Im Mittelpunkt der Studioausstellung steht die Gipsbüste der sog. Klytia. Das im Britischen Museum in London aufbewahrte Marmorbildnis einer jungen Frau wurde von Goethe hoch geschätzt und schmückt bis heute sein Wohnhaus am Frauenplan. Im 19. Jahrhundert war es so beliebt, dass unzählige Abgüsse Schlösser und Gärten und die Wohnzimmer des Bildungsbürgertums bevölkerten. In der Forschung ist jedoch umstritten, ob es sich um ein antikes Werk oder eine qualitätvolle Arbeit des 18. Jahrhunderts handelt. Die Studioausstellung spürt der Faszination nach, die dieses Frauenbildnis ausübt, und stellt sich den mit ihm verbundenen archäologischen und kunsthistorischen Fragen.
