Ideea acestei cărţi a plecat de la restaurarea unui ansamblu mural practic necunoscut, cel din bolniţa Mănăstirii Brâncoveni, din judeţul Olt. Dar, cum se întâmplă adesea, o realitate nou pusă în valoare trimite la altele, iar cercetarea descoperă că punctul de pornire este, de fapt, o verigă dintr-un lanţ de monumente, laice şi religioase, a căror istorie coboară în timp cel puţin până în secolul al XV-lea şi se continuă până în zilele noastr ...
