Description
The monitoring program used to determine the physical and geochemical conditons which prevail during acid mine drainage production at La Mine Doyon, Quebec, was described. The mechanisms which contribute to the production of acid mine drainage and the mechanisms which affect heat transfer within the waste dumps were examined. The cyclic variations of temperature in waste rock dumps were interpreted, and heat production rates were evaluated to allow for the derivation of pyrite oxidation rates.
