As mental health systems mature, it becomes evident that the diversity among clients requires a variety of types of programs and services. The successful spread of community support programming during the last twenty years suggests that model programs or precepts can be disseminated and established all across the United States. But the relative success of community support programming is not necessarily representative. Other types of programs, more recent in origin, are much less commonly found.
