Writing to Samuel J. May (Recipient) on March 21, Samuel May Jr. (Writer) mentions the pamphlet of the State Disunion Convention and proceedings of the Rochester Convention, copies of which he is sending to Recipient. After talking about Recipient?s son Joseph, who was elected to be his class orato, he says he hope to see Recipient at the upcoming annual meeting in New York City. On May 26, Writer adds that he is uncertain when the pamphlets will reach Recipient. He also talks about Theodor Parker?s illness, as well as his visit to their uncle B. Goddard who, at age 91, enjoys good health and reminds him of Recipient?s deceased father. He also says they are making another effort to remove Edward G. Loring (who presided over the Anthony Burns case) from his office as probate judge.
