Attraverso una sequenza inedita di opere di Josef Albers, il volume - realizzato in occasione della mostra al Museo Villa dei Cedri di Bellinzona (curata da Marco Pierini e Carole Haensler) - si snoda tra grafiche, gouaches, disegni preparatori e dipinti, rintracciando i rimandi e i rapporti tra la pratica del bozzetto e dello schizzo preparatorio e il lavoro concluso, in particolare la serie "Homage to the Square", indagando la tensione verso una 'sensibilità' cromatica rigorosa. Quasi con approccio ritualistico, Albers sceglie infatti la modulazione della luce e delle cromie, con perseveranza ostinata e spirituale, declinandola in motivi, forme, processi infiniti e insieme invariabili.
